Whether you’re a stay at home mom or you work a regular job outside of the home. I’m sure most of us will agree mom’s have a lot going on! All mothers have a natural instinct to put the needs and welfare of others before their own. It can seem like a never ending cycle of things to do between cooking, cleaning, taking care of the children, taking care of your husband and so much more. It can be difficult to relax and de-stress dealing with the pressure of being super mom and the good wife to your hubby. Most moms tend to get stressed and rundown from their daily routines and are left with no energy for themselves.
Here are 10 ways a mom can recharge and de-stress.
- Relax – Learn to take time out to relax. Take 20 – 30 minutes a day to put everything down and take a deep breathe and relax. Prepare a cup of herbal tea or take a warm relaxing bath and add a little herbal oil to the water.
- Learn to delegate – You don’t have to do everything yourself. Let the family help out with the chores around the house, this also includes your husband. Even the little ones can pitch in. It will help them learn good habits from an early age and boost their self-confidence. Most children are a happy to help. If things are learn early on they will become second nature and as they grow they will be more willing to help around the house. Remember even if they don’t do it as well as you, do not fix their mistakes because it will discourage them. By delegating you can create more time for you.
- Do something special for yourself – Take one hour out of the week to pamper yourself. Whether it’s a manicure, pedicure or maybe you want to visit a spa for an hour of pampering or get that massage you want.
- Treat yourself – Once a month go out and buy yourself something special. You deserve it! Buy yourself a new outfit, perfume, shoes, flowers or a handbag. You are awesome so treat yourself as such. No one is more special than you Mom!
- Nourish your body, mind and spirit – Take time to read a book that inspires you, meditate or take a yoga class. Get in touch with your spirituality. Eat well by preparing vibrant and alive foods of different colors, tastes and textures. They will give you the energy to go the distant.
- Exercise –You may be so busy you don’t have time to go to the gym but maybe you can do a dance class or take 30 minutes to stretch out, do relaxation exercises or take a brisk walk or run.
- Laugh – Find time to laugh! “Laughter re-enchants daily living” says Paul Pearsall, Ph.D., author of The Heart’s Code. Humor is healing. Stressing over the little things will stress the heart figuratively and physically.
- Enjoy Nature – Take a walk in nature and feel the sun and wind on your face. Sit by the ocean, lake or river and connect with its energy.
- Don’t act your age - Have fun and enjoy life! Do what makes you happy. Acting your age can be boring. If you want to watch cartoons, take a course in school or dress up for Halloween just do it. Life is meant for living so go out and live it!
- Smile – When you’re having a bad day. Smile and think of something funny or silly or sing a song that makes you happy.
Taking care of yourself is a way to expressing self love and it will help you have the energy you need to tackle your day and all it brings!
